From the introduction:
"This material was first produced as the statistical background to accompany a set of computer programs (collectively called GENANOVA) for the analysis of experimental data. We have reproduced the guide because it provides a very clear explanation of many important concepts concerned with the design and analysis of experiments. These concepts are described in a way that should be clear to non- statisticians and are equally relevant, whatever software is used for the analysis."
This guide was originally written by Professor S C Pearce, and has been adapted for inclusion in these guides by the University of Reading Statistical Services Centre.
Part of a series of statistical guides by The University of Reading Statistical Services Centre, which were originally written as part of a contract with DFID to give guidance to research and support staff working on DFID Natural Resources projects. They provide guidelines for staff involved in the development and presentation of research projects. The guidelines are intended to help researchers to identify their biometric or statistical needs.
